2011 Zurich Classic Of New Orleans Picks

Zurich Classic Of New Orleans Picks
Pick 1: Bubba Watson E/W @ 30/1 (Tote) Approach shot accuracy is the key this week at the Zurich Classic and length off the tee a big advantage. Fairways pretty generous and greens undulating and Bubba Watson fits the bill for this course. Good record at the Zurich Classic with a 5th place finish in recent years and in decent form already this season. Tasty Price and potentially very good trading opportunity.

Pick 2: Graeme McDowell E/W @ 33/1 (BET365) Up and down like a yoyo last week at the Heritage on a course that may not have suited McDowell and moving to 1 that will at the Zurich classic in the shape of TPC Louisiana. Great iron player and top putter and could play a major role this week....

Remember: For better value and much bigger odds on outright golf betting, a Betfair exchange account is an essential betting tool. Trading is the best strategy for consistent long term profits and Betfair offer a Free £25 matched bet on sign up. For more info and examples, see my trading strategy here. If you're betting E/W, take advantage of Bet365's offer up to £200 in free bets that you can use on this week's Zurich Classic.

Pick 3: Ben Crane E/W @ 35/1 (general) A regular feature on the all round ranking leaderboard and although he doesn't have a great record at the Zurich classic, he spoke in a recent interview about being at the top of his game. A win may only be around the corner. Great putters will also have an advantage on the greens this week which were some of the easiest to putt on last year.

Pick 4: Ricker Fowler E/W @ 35/1(BET365) Another who played last week where the course may not have suited and put in an out of character performance. Will be eager to put that right and with his aggressive style, can over power the TPC Louisiana.

Pick 5: Robert Allenby E/W @ 45/1 (BET365) Streaky Allenby is 1 of the best from tee to green in the game and is just starting to find some form this season if you take the Masters out of the equation where he was probably overawed by Woods. Big price catches the eye this week at the Zurich Classic

Zurich Classic Sleeper Pick
Pick 6: Camillo Villegas E/W @ 80/1 (general) Big hitting Columbian had been more focused on his cycling this year up until last week when he reappeared! Huge price on a player long off the tee and excellent with his irons, this week's premium.

Golf Player Profiles

Please note that player attribute ratings are derived from the official PGA Tour and European Tour golf stats, and updated with a rolling average each golf betting year for precision.

Bryan Nicholson is the pioneer of the progressive form and course fit ratings for golf betting, with the associated progressive form model and course fit profiling model. Bryan is the author of the increasingly popular annual course fit profiling manual and #1 golf betting book Angles & Edges and runs the Sharp Sports Bettors Blog.

What is expected Strokes Gained Course Fit ?

Bryan also pioneered the concept of Expected Strokes Gained Course Fit (xSGF) in golf betting. xSGF can be predicted using my model below. For prospective golf betting tips it projects ahead of time how many shots a player is expected to pick up per round on average on a particular golf course. It's weighed against a neutral golf course of the same rating. For example: Sam Horsfield at Celtic Manor vs TPC Southwind. This number will also portray ability level in terms of strokes gained total. Click "find out more" under the course fit golf betting model for info.

What is Progressive Form in Golf Betting?

Progressive form in golf betting differs from current form in that players are showing a trend in the right direction in their recent scoring. Trending form has a high predictive value in golf betting and can also catch players under the radar at an inflated price vs their true betting odds. For example - a player shows form of T40 - 24 - 24, but last week he was in the leading PGA Tour group on Sunday with Tiger Woods and had a bad round due to nerves. His finishing position may not fully capture his actual form... See more with our calculators and betting tools
