2011 Zurich Classic Of New Orleans Picks

Zurich Classic Of New Orleans Picks
Pick 1: Bubba Watson E/W @ 30/1 (Tote) Approach shot accuracy is the key this week at the Zurich Classic and length off the tee a big advantage. Fairways pretty generous and greens undulating and Bubba Watson fits the bill for this course. Good record at the Zurich Classic with a 5th place finish in recent years and in decent form already this season. Tasty Price and potentially very good trading opportunity.

Pick 2: Graeme McDowell E/W @ 33/1 (BET365) Up and down like a yoyo last week at the Heritage on a course that may not have suited McDowell and moving to 1 that will at the Zurich classic in the shape of TPC Louisiana. Great iron player and top putter and could play a major role this week....

Pick 3: Ben Crane E/W @ 35/1 (general) A regular feature on the all round ranking leaderboard and although he doesn't have a great record at the Zurich classic, he spoke in a recent interview about being at the top of his game. A win may only be around the corner. Great putters will also have an advantage on the greens this week which were some of the easiest to putt on last year.

Pick 4: Ricker Fowler E/W @ 35/1(BET365) Another who played last week where the course may not have suited and put in an out of character performance. Will be eager to put that right and with his aggressive style, can over power the TPC Louisiana.

Pick 5: Robert Allenby E/W @ 45/1 (BET365) Streaky Allenby is 1 of the best from tee to green in the game and is just starting to find some form this season if you take the Masters out of the equation where he was probably overawed by Woods. Big price catches the eye this week at the Zurich Classic

Zurich Classic Sleeper Pick
Pick 6: Camillo Villegas E/W @ 80/1 (general) Big hitting Columbian had been more focused on his cycling this year up until last week when he reappeared! Huge price on a player long off the tee and excellent with his irons, this week's premium.

  1. Nick,

Alex here again, great work again with the tips, got a fairly hefty potential profit on Watson, what are your thoughts on laying him off? Wait till after the third round? He's hovering around 4/1 at the moment, probably lower.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I get used to trading.

    Regards

  2. Hi Nic

Until now, Bubba is making a good zurich classic, and Camilo Villegas is now with odds near 50 (I got 90 on wednesday night).

I understand that the best option for bubba is waiting until the end of 3rd round or beginning of final round to see if Bubba continues his good play.

But what about Villegas? With a so high initial odd, he's not a favourite? How far can he go? What is the odd that we can thinking to lay? If tomorrow his odd drop to about 4.00 ou 5.00, can we think of Villegas as a possible winner and that his odds can drop even more, or 4.00 or 5.00 would be a true miracle for him?

    Cheers

  3. Hi lads, yes in the longrun it's best to wait for Bubba until after round 3. If the scoreboard after round 3 is exactly as it is now, Bubba would be trading approximately 2.3, so you can see the difference. If he ends a couple of shots behind 1 player, his odds may even be better than they are now depending on circumstance and if he shoots a low 1, his odds will completely tumble.

Regarding Villegas, the way the board is, if he shoots a low 1, he could indeed reach 5.0 or 6.0 and if he does, I'd be looking to trade at that. I'd probably take some profit on him and leave potential for more.

  4. Hi Nic
Bubba wasn't so well on 3rd round and is tied with Web Simpson. Looking to the odds, Bubba is still the favourite. Should we wait a few holes to see what Bubba will do? Or is more safe to lay it right now?
Steve Stricker e K.J. Choi (who had better odds than Bubba at the beginning, so I assume that they are better than Bubba) are close to Bubba.
Are they a menace to Bubba?
Last week, I wait that Nicolas Colsaerts' odds touch on 1.2 (I couldn't wait any longer....I was a little bit scared that he miss a shot) and I had a nice profit though I only back each player with 2€.
Probably this week it is a little harder to achieve the same, do you agree?

Cheers mate and thanks for all the picks and the answers

  5. No worries. I'm partly laying Bubba off now to cover my liabilities on the tournament. I'll look to trade further around half way through the final round provided he is going well. I trade at certain times of the tournament rather than waiting for certain prices (provided prices have dropped into a certain range - eg, starting price/10, or lower) 1.2 is far too low a price to be waiting for. Anything 2.0 or lower is what I'd be hoping for on Bubba.
