Myrtle Beach Classic Preview

Another win could be just around the corner for Englishman Harry Hall

The Myrtle Beach Classic takes its place alongside the Truist Championship for the second year running. Last year big hitting Chris Gotterup claimed his maiden PGA Tour win blitzing the field by six strokes on a score of 22-under par. Birdies are the brief on a resort type layout in an event that can secure extra playing priviledges for golfers lower in the rankings.

The Myrtle Beach Classic market has no outstanding favourites and I like a handful of players close enough to the top. Two of my picks can be found below. Leading the market is MacKenzie Hughes who is poor value at 19-20s, and a very out of form Tom Kim at 20/1. Gotterup defends at 35s.

Ricky Castillo 45/1 ew is 8th in par 4 performance and 8th in ball striking currently. Castillo is becoming prominent on my radar ths year and his fifth place at the Nelson follows a recent 12th at Valspar and he was 14th in the Farmers insurance Open. He is a big hitter - 29th in driving distance and he is 45th in total birdies.

Harry Hall 35/1 who got his maiden win last year on the PGA Tour’s (co-sanctioned with the DP World Tour) Isco Championship also shows up in the key stats this week. 3rd in par 4 performance, 1st in par 4 birdie or better, and averaging 30th in his last five starts. The Englishman was t40 here in his debut last year....

What is expected Strokes Gained Course Fit ?

Bryan pioneered the concept of Expected Strokes Gained Course Fit (xSGF) in golf betting. xSGF can be predicted using my model below. For prospective golf betting tips it projects ahead of time how many shots a player is expected to pick up per round on average on a particular golf course. It's weighed against a neutral golf course of the same rating.

Golf Betting Tips Model

Input up to date player and course data (from the upcoming course fit manual 2025/26) into this interactive golf betting model. My course fit profiling model for golf betting tips uses highly evolved golf nuance and betting intuition, precise parameters and inputs based on Bayesian analysis, plus years of empirical evidence through observing, betting and documenting golf and stats.

What is Progressive Form in Golf Betting?

Progressive form in golf betting differs from current form in that players are showing a trend in the right direction in their recent scoring. Trending form has a high predictive value in golf betting and can also catch players under the radar at an inflated price vs their true betting odds.
