The Course - Montgomerie Maxx Royal, par: 72, 7,133 yrds

Key features - designed by Colin Montgomerie who was short off the tee and prefers a fade, this track offers many "strategic options". "Mix of pine forest and sandy ridges". Back nine is tighter than the front. Large undulating greens and average width, contoured, pristine fairways. Numerous water hazards.

Premium on - Greens in regulation, proximity to the hole, par 5 performance Turkish Airlines Open

Paul Waring opened as high as 66/1 in the sportsbooks which was brilliant value. Unfortunately it doesn't last too long these days but EW quotes of 45- 50/1 are still about and as high as 5/1 on a top 10. Waring has now hit top form for the season with no worse a finish than 30th across his last 7 events which included a t3 at ST. Andrews. He recorded a t8 at Sheshan last week at the WGC with sandwiched rounds of 65 and 66. With ball striking stats including a rank of 19th in strokes gained: tee to green and 3rd in greens in reg, he looks a good fit for the Montgomerie Maxx. Waring is 40/1 7 places with Betfair sportsbook...

Kiradech Aphibarnrat 50/1 always gets my attention on a track where par 5 performance is key. The Thai isn't having a great season but he was 25th in par 5 performance in 2018. He comes into the Turkish Airlines Open off the back of 4x 69s at the CJ cup for a T8 finish. He was 3rd last time the Turkish Airlines Open was played on the Montgomerie Maxx Royal in 2015, finishing on a total of -20 under par. Kira has opened at a general 45/1 and 60.00 on the exchange may well be worth a back to lay trade play on Betfair..... learn more here

Golf Player Profiles

Please note that player attribute ratings are derived from the official PGA Tour and European Tour golf stats, and updated with a rolling average each golf betting year for precision.

Bryan Nicholson is the pioneer of the progressive form and course fit ratings for golf betting, with the associated progressive form model and course fit profiling model. Bryan is the author of the increasingly popular annual course fit profiling manual and #1 golf betting book Angles & Edges and runs the Sharp Sports Bettors Blog.

What is expected Strokes Gained Course Fit ?

Bryan also pioneered the concept of Expected Strokes Gained Course Fit (xSGF) in golf betting. xSGF can be predicted using my model below. For prospective golf betting tips it projects ahead of time how many shots a player is expected to pick up per round on average on a particular golf course. It's weighed against a neutral golf course of the same rating. For example: Sam Horsfield at Celtic Manor vs TPC Southwind. This number will also portray ability level in terms of strokes gained total. Click "find out more" under the course fit golf betting model for info.

What is Progressive Form in Golf Betting?

Progressive form in golf betting differs from current form in that players are showing a trend in the right direction in their recent scoring. Trending form has a high predictive value in golf betting and can also catch players under the radar at an inflated price vs their true betting odds. For example - a player shows form of T40 - 24 - 24, but last week he was in the leading PGA Tour group on Sunday with Tiger Woods and had a bad round due to nerves. His finishing position may not fully capture his actual form... See more with our calculators and betting tools
