Open Championship First Round Leader Betting
In the First Round Leader market for the Open Championship, I'm simply looking for 4 things:
1. Big odds - Many of the market leaders tend to start slowly so you're advised to stay away from short prices in this market. The worse the weather, the more random the leaderboard and backing players E/W at triple figure odds could prove quite profitable.
2. Players that tend to start fast - As alluded to above, many players generally start slowly but betting and studying golf for years, I've come to know the players who regularly get out of the blocks fast.
3. Tee times - Early weather forecast shows high wind expected on Thursday but the very early starters (7-8am) and the early afternoon starters (12-1pm) according to the forecast may miss the high winds for the most part. My 4 picks fit into these categories.
4. Links Experience - Don't underestimate the advantage the experienced links players will have this week. In the main markets, you'll notice I havn't picked 1 US player and it's not a coincidence.
With the above in mind, I've targeted 4 players for small E/W stakes to hopefully give you a run for your money.
Open Championship First Round Leader picks:
Pick 1: Simon Dyson E/W @ 125/1
Pick 2: Danny Willett E/W @ 150/1
Pick 3: Thomas Aiken E/W @ 125/1
Pick 4: Richard Green E/W @ 200/1
(Prices with skybet)
Note: If you're betting E/W, take advantage of Bet365's offer up to £200 in free bets to use on this week's British Open championship.
