Premier League Relegation 2010 / 11

There are 2 teams that stand out for me this season in this the relegation market. 1 is a team that would be expected to be down towards the bottom end and the other is a team that is expected in the most part to finish in the top half of the table..

Before I get to those teams, Blackpool are a near certainty for Premier League relegation for me and there's no other real standout team. Wolves are dogged and have a good organised unit and set up with MacCarthy there. Westbrom can play superb football and I expect them to win a lot of their home games and Newcastle are being very much underrated; I don't expect them to struggle too much and a mid table place is likely.

That means, for me, there are 2 spots wide open for teams to take the plunge with relegation to the Championship and 2 sides that look decent value to fill those 2 relegation spots are Wigan (9/4) and Sunderland (11/1).

Selections Offering Value:

Pick 1: Sunderland for Premier League Relegation @ 11/1 (general) - For me, a terrible summer for Sunderland. I really expected them to push on from last season, sign 3 or 4 quality players and be challenging for a top 7 finish. Instead, they've gone backwards. Their signings are not of the standard / type I expected and I think will struggle to adapt or take time to settle in and they've just made a huge error in selling star man Kenwyne Jones. I don't know who they will get in as a replacement but I'm fairly sure it will be a step down. A significant injury to Darrent Bent this year and it could be trouble for Sunderland. I wouldn't be surprised to see Bruce go this season either. Great value at such a big price.

Pick 2: Wigan for Premier League relegation @ 9/4 (general) - Wigan are a team expected to be down towards the bottom and I fear for them this season. Martinez has an attacking philosophy and that can be dangerous for a team like Wigan. They are average to say the least and a team I get the impression that are far from together. Want away players like Scharner and Charles NZogbia 1 wonders where their heads will be this year. I can see them being very unorganised at the back and putting their heads down a lot this season if things are not going well and wouldn't be surprised to see them battle Blackpool for bottom spot.

What is expected Strokes Gained Course Fit ?

Bryan pioneered the concept of Expected Strokes Gained Course Fit (xSGF) in golf betting. xSGF can be predicted using my model below. For prospective golf betting tips it projects ahead of time how many shots a player is expected to pick up per round on average on a particular golf course. It's weighed against a neutral golf course of the same rating.

What is Progressive Form in Golf Betting?

Progressive form in golf betting differs from current form in that players are showing a trend in the right direction in their recent scoring. Trending form has a high predictive value in golf betting and can also catch players under the radar at an inflated price vs their true betting odds.
