GOLF BETTING - WGC CA CHAMPIONSHIP PICKS

The 2nd of this years WGC events takes place this week in the form of the CA Championships where 1 look at the quality of the field tells you that anyone that can pick a winner here will have done VERY well! Places will be more of a primary focus for this year's CA Championship betting but there are 2 big names due a win that take my fancy for outright E/W.

The Blue Monster at Doral hardly lives up to it's name, ranking 40/54 on the PGA Tour golf circuit last year and with the winning score usually averaging in the high teens. Birdies a plenty are available here, especially if the wind doesn't blow and the greens this year are expected to be more receptive and running a smooth 11.8 on the stimp meter, music to the ears of a certain in form Anthony kim.... stay tuned for expert WGC CA championship value picks....

WGC CA Championship Value Bets:

Recommended sportsbooks for golf betting with Nic's Picks: Ladbrokes.com - generally bigger and better value outright E/W prices on players towards the top end of the market. Extrabet - The only sportsbook to pay out in full for place ties. Free bet action for new customers at both.

(figures = stakes in units(pts)

- 1 E/W Anthony Kim 33/1 (Ladbrokes.com) Kim has hit full throttle right now with the putter on form. As mentioned these greens should set up for his aggressive style of play and birdie making ability. Water around the course is the worry for Kim who isn't a very smart player.

- 1 E/W Rory McIlroy 25/1 (general) Not been on top of his game but no better place than here to kick start the season for McIlroy who also fires at all the pins. Had an outing here last year and performed admirably and will know the course this year.

- 2pts Graeme McDowell Top 10 finish @ 7/1 (William hill) McDowell found form last week before a poor last round and could go well again round Doral with his all round game

- 2pts Vijay Singh Top 10 finish @ 4.2 (Betting Exchange ) Singh must have found form with the putter last week to finish where he did. Has a stellar record on this course and always good from tee to green. May challenge for the win if he starts well.

-2pts Brian Gay Top 20 finish 10/3(Totesport) Course should play into Gay's hands. 1 of the best putters on tour and in decent form.

Golf Player Profiles

Please note that player attribute ratings are derived from the official PGA Tour and European Tour golf stats, and updated with a rolling average each golf betting year for precision.

Bryan Nicholson is the pioneer of the progressive form and course fit ratings for golf betting, with the associated progressive form model and course fit profiling model. Bryan is the author of the increasingly popular annual course fit profiling manual and #1 golf betting book Angles & Edges and runs the Sharp Sports Bettors Blog.

What is expected Strokes Gained Course Fit ?

Bryan also pioneered the concept of Expected Strokes Gained Course Fit (xSGF) in golf betting. xSGF can be predicted using my model below. For prospective golf betting tips it projects ahead of time how many shots a player is expected to pick up per round on average on a particular golf course. It's weighed against a neutral golf course of the same rating. For example: Sam Horsfield at Celtic Manor vs TPC Southwind. This number will also portray ability level in terms of strokes gained total. Click "find out more" under the course fit golf betting model for info.

What is Progressive Form in Golf Betting?

Progressive form in golf betting differs from current form in that players are showing a trend in the right direction in their recent scoring. Trending form has a high predictive value in golf betting and can also catch players under the radar at an inflated price vs their true betting odds. For example - a player shows form of T40 - 24 - 24, but last week he was in the leading PGA Tour group on Sunday with Tiger Woods and had a bad round due to nerves. His finishing position may not fully capture his actual form... See more with our calculators and betting tools
