Golf Betting: Maybank Malasyian Open Picks

With the Maybank Malaysian Open the first European Tour Event in a few weeks thus not much form to go on and not much course form either , it's very much a secondary event this week and it was tempting to just give it a miss altogether but I've had a few requests so I've picked out some big odds players that look very much overpriced.

K.J Choi and Jaidee, this week's golf betting favourites are well worth that tag and will be the men to beat but further down the Maybank Malaysian Open market as mentioned, there are 3 guys that standout for me at the prices they've been marked up at, purely in terms of value. Take out the 2 market leaders and this really is anyone's tournament.

Not too much is known about the course except that it is very short with water everywhere and slow greens. Last tournament here was in 2006 but it's been revamped since then so I'll get straight to the picks:

Maybank Malaysian Open Value Betting Picks
-1pt E/W Soren Kjeldsen @ 40/1 (general)
-1pt E/W Scott Strange @ 55/1 (skybet)
-1pt E/W David Drysdale @ 66/1 (general)

What is expected Strokes Gained Course Fit ?

Bryan pioneered the concept of Expected Strokes Gained Course Fit (xSGF) in golf betting. xSGF can be predicted using my model below. For prospective golf betting tips it projects ahead of time how many shots a player is expected to pick up per round on average on a particular golf course. It's weighed against a neutral golf course of the same rating.

Golf Betting Tips Model

Input up to date player and course data (from the upcoming course fit manual 2024) into this interactive golf betting model. My course fit profiling model for golf betting tips uses highly evolved golf nuance and betting intuition, precise parameters and inputs based on Bayesian analysis, plus years of empirical evidence through observing, betting and documenting golf and stats.

What is Progressive Form in Golf Betting?

Progressive form in golf betting differs from current form in that players are showing a trend in the right direction in their recent scoring. Trending form has a high predictive value in golf betting and can also catch players under the radar at an inflated price vs their true betting odds.
