African Cup Of Nations 2010 Betting Preview / Picks

(scroll down for picks)

Not too many African Cup of Nation's 2010 markets out yet excluding the outright/ E/W win market but when the "Top scorer" markets hit the books, I'll be looking towards the Egyptian group with big interest.

Mo Zidan for me should be a great value bet and Yakubu also a big value pick in what should be a very open group with lots of goals. They should be priced up nicely as favourite Didier Drogba and current holder Samuel Eto will dominate the goalscorer (golden boot) market. Plenty of others will be worth a look including Manucho and Freddie Kanoute.

Of the outsiders for the tournament win, Mali look a superb price at 33/1 on william Hill(1/2 betting odds places 1-2) and could be a great trading opportunity on the betting exchanges. Their draw is very unkind, hence the silly price but if they can get through their group and avoid the Ivorians(qualify in 2nd will probably be needed to do this), they could reach the African Cup of Nations final with the central midfield duo of Keita (Barca) and Diarra(Madrid) and the main man up top in Kanoute(Sevilla) key to their performance.

Live Scoring/Chat | Symbols Guide | Forum

-1pt E/W Mali win @ 28/1 (Totesport) Too big a price to leave with the world class spine of Kanoute, Keita and Diarra. Don't tend to conceed too many.

-2pts win Nigeria @ 10/1 ( StanJames)Nigeria this year will be more solid than usual but still with a big attacking threat with the likes of Yakubu, Odemwingie and Obasi has been called in to the squad. Have a nice route potentially mapped out to the final.

(Top scorers E/W 1/4 odds 1-4 places)
-1pt E/W Mohammed Zidan top scorer @ 33/1 (Bluesq) Massive price on pacey striker in a group that spells goals

-0.5pts E/W Moteab(Meteeb) top scorer @ 33/1 (Boylesports) The holders are likely to score a lot of goals in this tournament and Moteab is their main man up top with Zidan likely to play off him

-1pt E/W Yakubu top scorer @ 16/1 (general) You'll notice I'm focusing on this group for outsiders for the African Nation's top scorer gong as I see both Nigeria and Egypt getting plenty of chances against their opposition and Yakubu, Nigeria's main man needs to prove himself again after injury problems

-0.5pts E/W Achille Emana top scorer @ 80/1 (PaddyPower) Under the radar this year as Betis were relegated, which is why he is so overpriced. Cameroon are another team I fancy to get goals in a their easy group and Emana could find himself playing in an advanced role.

-2pts Egypt highest scoring team @ 8/1 (Hills )As mentioned, a group likely to produce goals and with Egypt's style of play and firepower, they're a great value bet @ 8's

-0.5pts E/W Rafik saifi Top Scorer @ 100/1(bet365) places 1-3 1/4 odds
(added @ 18.40 7th Jan)

-3pts Samuel Eto Top Scorer win @ 5/1 (Stanjames) With the news that Togo have pulled out, that's 1 less game for Didier Drogba, making Eto big favourite, especially in his group where the current golden boot holder should get plenty of chances (added @ 14:45 9th Jan 2010)

What is expected Strokes Gained Course Fit ?

Bryan pioneered the concept of Expected Strokes Gained Course Fit (xSGF) in golf betting. xSGF can be predicted using my model below. For prospective golf betting tips it projects ahead of time how many shots a player is expected to pick up per round on average on a particular golf course. It's weighed against a neutral golf course of the same rating.

Input up to date player and course data (from the upcoming course fit manual 2024) into this interactive golf betting model. My course fit profiling model for golf betting tips uses highly evolved golf nuance and betting intuition, precise parameters and inputs based on Bayesian analysis, plus years of empirical evidence through observing, betting and documenting golf and stats.

What is Progressive Form in Golf Betting?

Progressive form in golf betting differs from current form in that players are showing a trend in the right direction in their recent scoring. Trending form has a high predictive value in golf betting and can also catch players under the radar at an inflated price vs their true betting odds.
